Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
A case of credential fraud has been uncovered in Madhyamgram Municipality, where an individual posing as a doctor secured a job as a medical officer using the registration number of a legitimate doctor. On September 17, 2024, the municipality published an advertisement seeking candidates for the position of a medical officer. In response, an applicant named Sunil Sahu submitted his documents, attended an interview, and was selected for the role.
After joining the health department at the municipality, Sahu worked for only a few days before disappearing. In light of his sudden disappearance, a review of the submitted documents was conducted. It was discovered that the registration number provided by Sahu matched that of another individual, a real doctor named Sunil Sahu, who had been practicing medicine for several years. The real Dr. Sunil Sahu confirmed that his registration number had been used without his consent by the individual who secured the job.
Following this discovery, the Madhyamgram Municipality contacted the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) for further investigation. A show-cause notice was issued to the accused, but he has not been located since, having left only a resignation letter behind. Authorities are now looking into how the fraudulent documents were accepted and approved, as the imposter did not hold valid medical qualifications.
The real Dr. Sunil Sahu has come forward to clarify that the fraudulent individual had used his registration number to work in various places over the past 8 to 9 years. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to locate the accused and determine whether any other individuals or networks were involved in enabling the fraud.
